Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can an infrastructure Wi-Fi computer scan ordinary color Legal originals, copy and fax, while automatically printing Legal with 251 sheets included?
Yes with the compatible Windows scan software and enabled computer destination, plus a separately configured analog fax line. Legal fits the ordinary feeder and documented print-duplex unit. The base paper configuration is 250 sheets plus one manual sheet; this does not confirm automatic two-sided scanning.
Explore this need in the finder →Can a USB computer use the glass when document size is flexible and still print ordinary two-sided Letter pages?
Yes with the documented compatible scan application and USB installation. A physical flatbed capture route is established, and Letter automatic print duplex is listed for 3225DN/DNI. The exact glass-size list remains unverified, so this preset deliberately leaves scan document size flexible.
Explore this need in the finder →Does its automatic print-duplex feature also confirm automatic scanning of both sides of Legal originals?
No. The ordinary feeder accepts Legal, but the reviewed exact original material does not establish automatic two-sided feeder capture. Automatic output duplex and a 40-sheet ADF are separate features. A double-sided document workflow needs a separately confirmed scan route.
Explore this need in the finder →A wireless multifunction model with a meaningful suffix
The Xerox WorkCentre 3225/DNI is an earlier monochrome laser multifunction printer combining USB, Ethernet and built-in Wi-Fi with scanning, copying and analog fax. Automatic two-sided printing is included, making it useful for ordinary office documents that do not need color output.
Keep the exact configuration in view. Xerox's family table places automatic print duplex on 3225DNI, while the neighboring 3215NI uses manual duplex. The scanner can capture color even though the printer produces monochrome pages. Neither the family name nor color scanning should substitute for those distinctions.
Enable the computer scan destination
The original short guide explicitly supports sending scans to a connected computer over USB, Ethernet or Wi-Fi. It also describes starting capture from the computer. These are useful separate choices, but each requires the appropriate software and setup for the selected connection.
In the reviewed Windows Scan to PC procedure, Xerox Easy Printer Manager selects the machine, enables scanning from the device panel and defines scan and file settings. Choose the save folder and save the configuration. At the printer, select Scan to PC, the destination and any required profile before starting.
A working print queue does not guarantee that this scan destination is enabled. If a computer is missing from the printer's scan choices, check its software, connection and scan configuration. Historical Windows and Macintosh instructions should also be checked against the computer actually being used.
Give originals an appropriate capture path
The standard 40-sheet feeder accepts ordinary loose Letter, Legal and A4 originals within its specified size and 60–105 gsm limits. It is useful for a packet of suitable forms that would otherwise need separate placement on the glass.
Automatic feeder duplex is a separate question. The reviewed exact material confirms the ordinary feeder route, without establishing automatic capture of both document sides. The printer's automatic duplex unit cannot supply that scanner feature.
A flatbed route is documented for individual originals, but the reviewed route-specific glass size limit is not established as clearly as the feeder's. The combined software size menu is not enough to transfer Legal support to the glass. Confirm the actual supported glass area when a particular long or delicate original must lie flat.
Use the manual slot deliberately
The included paper configuration is a 250-sheet main drawer plus a one-sheet manual slot, totaling 251 ordinary sheets. The feeder's 40 originals and the output tray are different capacities. Letter, Legal and A4 are listed for both ordinary input paths.
The 3225DN/DNI duplex table explicitly includes those three paper sizes on supported stock. Select the correct size, type and two-sided setting in the compatible driver. Special media does not inherit ordinary-paper duplex support.
For an envelope, the guide specifies short-edge entry with the flap down through the manual slot. Set its exact size and type and select Manual Feed Slot as the source. The driver settings override panel settings. This is an attended, single-item routine rather than an additional full envelope tray.
Keep mobile, fax and security claims specific
Native AirPrint is documented for a suitable shared network. A separate optional Wireless Print Solutions Adapter introduces the brochure's Mopria listing, so native base Mopria should not be assumed. Wi-Fi Direct is another documented connection mode, distinct from ordinary infrastructure Wi-Fi.
Included analog fax still uses its own configured telephone line. Secure Fax Receive protects incoming faxes; it does not establish passcode-held computer print jobs. Check a separately confirmed PIN-release feature if confidential desktop printing is essential.
Xerox declares up to 29 one-sided Letter pages per minute and 28 A4. The 30,000-page monthly duty is a maximum, not an established routine recommendation here. Toner and drum have separate yields and replacement schedules, and their remaining condition needs inspection on an existing unit.
For ordinary feeder capture and monochrome duplex output over built-in Wi-Fi, DNI has a coherent documented scope. Essential duplex scanning, a specific glass size or native Mopria calls for more directly confirmed support.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
The exact 3225DNI US table declares up to 29 one-sided Letter pages/min and 28 A4. Its neighboring 3215NI is 27 Letter/26 A4, so the family’s headline is not applied indiscriminately. The 30,000-page monthly duty is explicitly a maximum, not a regular sustained workload recommendation. A recommended monthly ceiling remains unestablished in the reviewed exact sources. Enhanced 4800 x 600 image-quality output is separate from the 600 x 600 dpi print resolution and from color scanner capability.
Paper handling
The original exact table gives a 250-sheet main drawer and one-sheet manual slot, totaling 251 ordinary sheets, with the main rating stated at 20 lb/80 gsm in the guide. Letter, Legal and A4 are listed for both paths. The 3225DN/DNI duplex unit supports those three sizes at 60–120 gsm on its permitted paper types; it is not the 3215NI’s manual-duplex arrangement. The 40-sheet feeder holds originals rather than output paper. For an envelope, use the manual slot one item at a time, short-edge feed with the flap down, and set its exact size, type and Manual Feed Slot source in the computer driver. An open rear-output path is for simplex handling, not automatic duplex envelopes.
Scanning arrangement
The standard 40-sheet automatic feeder accepts 148–216 mm wide and 148–356 mm long originals, including Letter, Legal and A4, at 60–105 gsm; its capacity basis is 20 lb/80 gsm. Color computer capture is confirmed. The original Image Capture options identify a flatbed and a document feeder, but combine paper-size choices in one table. The reviewed route-specific glass maximum is therefore left unestablished: flatbed is recorded with an empty size list, which supports flexible-size flatbed needs only. Legal feeder support is not borrowed for the glass. Automatic two-sided feeder capture and a single-pass duplex method remain unverified, with only ordinary feeder capture entered.
Computer and mobile connections
DNI includes USB 2, 10/100 Ethernet and Wi-Fi b/g/n. The original short guide explicitly supports scans to a connected computer over USB, Ethernet or infrastructure Wi-Fi, after configuring the corresponding software and destination. The reviewed Windows Scan to PC arrangement uses Xerox Easy Printer Manager: install the recommended components, enable scanning from the device panel, choose the save folder and scan/file settings, then save the profile. Printer-panel scanning selects the computer destination and profile. A working print driver alone does not ensure that the scan destination is enabled. Wi-Fi Direct is separately documented for direct device connections, but no computer-scan route is assigned to it here.
Supplies and declared yields
The actual US brochure supplies table lists 106R02775 standard toner at 1,500 pages and 106R02777 high toner at 3,000 under ISO/IEC 19752. The supplied print cartridge is 1,500 pages. The separate 101R00474 drum is approximately 10,000 Letter/A4 pages on the stated 20 lb/75 gsm basis, subject to media and usage. A search-rendered version showed a different high-capacity part number; the personally read original PDF and pixels govern this record. No current price, stock, remaining cartridge life or cost per page is asserted.
Software and support
Native AirPrint is documented for a suitable network arrangement. Mopria is listed with the optional Wireless Print Solutions Adapter, so a base native Mopria arrangement is not established. The separate minimal mobile-print plan does not borrow USB computer scanning, automatic-duplex driver settings or passcode release. Secure Fax Receive holds incoming faxes and is not proof of PIN-held computer printing. Use compatible print/scan software for the actual computer; historical Windows and Macintosh instructions do not guarantee present driver support. Retired cloud-service names are not treated as currently working features.
Electrical edition and setup
The reviewed earlier US electrical edition is 110–127 VAC, separately listed from the 220–240 edition. Verify the actual unit label. The 3225 body is 15.8 x 14.3 x 14.4 inches and 25.1 lb, distinct from the lighter 3215 and from operating clearance. Leave room for the cover, feeder, longer paper, manual slot, rear output and service. Included analog fax requires its own compatible telephone line and setup; it is not transported by the USB or network cable. This dated model is retained as an earlier reference, without a current-machine offer or support guarantee.
