WorkCentre 3345/DNIIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

Document teams handling two-sided Letter or Legal originals, network scan folders and passcode-held computer print jobs.

The main tradeoff

Its feeder reverses originals; USB scanning needs specific firmware and application support, and extra paper capacity is optional.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can Ethernet handle monochrome Legal duplex printing, two-sided Legal color scans, passcode release and 5,000-page months with 300 included sheets?

Yes with compatible computer drivers and a configured network scanner destination. Legal is explicitly supported for duplex output and the reversing feeder. Secure Print is included; recommended monthly volume reaches 6,000, separate from the larger maximum duty figure.

Can the documented USB setup print both sides of Letter and scan Letter originals with copies and fax?

Yes using compatible print and scan software, the required SMPR4-or-later firmware for USB scanning, and a separately configured analog telephone line. The historical release limits TWAIN to 32-bit applications; WIA USB supports 32-bit and 64-bit applications. Confirm present computer compatibility.

Is its automatic Legal feeder scan a single-pass two-sided method?

No. Xerox explicitly identifies a reversing automatic document feeder. It qualifies for ordinary automatic two-sided scanning, but it does not meet a requirement to capture both sides in one pass.

Choose it for the originals as well as the output

The Xerox WorkCentre 3345/DNI is a monochrome laser multifunction printer with an included reversing document feeder. It suits a document team that receives two-sided originals, prints automatic two-sided office pages and sends color scans to configured computer destinations.

Its feeder is the useful distinction from the 3335. It turns originals to capture their second sides automatically. That reduces manual handling, but it is not a single-pass scanner. The printer includes USB, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi, copying and separately configured analog fax.

Xerox identifies this series as no longer sold as new. Treat the specifications as an earlier-model reference, and check the exact US unit, compatible software and condition before planning a workflow around it.

Legal can travel through both duplex routines

Letter, Legal and A4 are positively supported for ordinary printing and automatic print duplex. The guide's explicit duplex table lists supported media at 60–120 gsm. In the computer driver, select the loaded size and paper type, then choose the appropriate page-turning layout.

The included main drawer holds 250 ordinary sheets and the bypass 50, totaling 300 at the stated 20 lb, 75 gsm basis. Both accept those three sizes. A separate 550-sheet accessory can raise an equipped machine to 850, but it is not included in the base configuration.

Legal originals also fit the reversing feeder. The glass supports Letter and A4, so a longer Legal document belongs in the feeder rather than being assumed to fit under the lid.

Tell the scanner which sides to read

Load suitable loose originals face up, with the first page on top and its top edge entering first. Remove staples and clips, adjust the guides and stay below the fill line. The exact configuration specifies 50 originals, rather than the conflicting approximately 100-sheet paragraph in a shared guide.

In the compatible TWAIN scanner interface, choose Scan Size and Side to Scan. Its one-sided, two-sided and short-edge two-sided choices determine which original faces enter the file. Select Image Color for color, grayscale or black-and-white capture before starting.

A duplex output setting alone does not tell the scanner to read both sides. Check the saved file, its page order and orientation after establishing the routine. The reversing mechanism is appropriate for ordinary duplex scanning, while a buyer requiring single-pass capture needs another explicitly equipped model.

USB scanning requires the right application

The original Network/USB Scan Driver release note confirms computer scanning over USB with firmware V60.001.14.000, SMPR4, or later. This is separate from placing a flash drive in the walk-up USB socket.

That release supports TWAIN over USB and network with 32-bit applications only. A supported 64-bit operating system does not remove the application restriction. Its WIA component supports USB scanning from 32-bit or 64-bit applications.

Check the actual operating system, scanner package and application together. Historical compatibility examples do not promise a driver for every current computer. If the normal application cannot use the scanner, resolve that before relying on the feeder's hardware capabilities.

Prepare the destination before sending network scans

For a shared computer folder, establish a reachable share and appropriate access rights. Add the computer address, share name and permitted login details to the printer address book. At the panel, choose the saved network destination and scan settings, then start the job.

Remote TWAIN needs the Scan Extension Web service and Remote Start enabled. Wi-Fi offers the documented network services, but the network configuration and destination still need to work. Printing successfully is not a substitute for scanner setup.

Secure Print is included for compatible computer jobs. Supply the required passcode and release the held document at the printer. The administrator can set the minimum passcode length; the held-job deletion timer also matters when a document waits for collection. Optional card readers are a separate arrangement.

Mobile devices, fax and envelopes keep their conditions

AirPrint needs HTTP, IPP and Bonjour/multicast DNS enabled. Mopria needs its supported device, Print Service and enabled printer protocol. Use the shared network and suitable subnet or discovery routing. A wired printer can serve a mobile device using that network's Wi-Fi.

Wi-Fi Direct peer printing is available separately and disabled by default. It does not establish peer computer scanning or every paper and security setting available in the full computer driver. Analog fax requires its configured telephone line.

For suitable envelopes, use the bypass with the print side up and closed flaps down and left. Confirm size and Envelope type. Recommended ordinary volume reaches 6,000 monthly pages; the 80,000 duty declaration is a different maximum. Match US toner numbers carefully, because an international sheet for this family uses different ordering codes.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

The exact 3345 table declares up to 42 one-sided Letter pages/min, 40 A4 and 34 Legal. Separate automatic two-sided figures are 21 Letter, 20 A4 and 17 Legal. Scan rates of up to 24 monochrome or 8 color images/min are different measurements. Recommended regular monthly volume is up to 6,000; the 80,000 duty figure is explicitly a nonsustained maximum. No measured performance claim.

Paper handling

Included input is a 250-sheet main drawer and 50-sheet bypass, total 300 ordinary sheets at 20 lb, 75 gsm. Both positively accept Letter, Legal and A4. Those sizes also appear in the explicit automatic duplex table at the supported 60–120 gsm types and weights. The wider one-sided main 60–163 gsm and bypass 60–220 gsm ranges do not extend duplex compatibility. Optional 550-sheet drawer raises a separately equipped total to 850. Envelopes use the bypass, print side up, flaps closed and down, flap to the left; match paper size and Envelope type in driver and panel and confirm. No envelope duplex or invented stack count.

Scanning arrangement

The exact 3345 includes a 50-sheet reversing automatic document feeder at the original 75 gsm capacity basis, accepting stated original weights of 50–105 gsm. It automatically captures both original sides by reversing, rather than a single-pass mechanism. Letter, Legal and A4 are supported for ordinary one-sided and two-sided feeder scans; the guide gives a separate two-sided minimum of 176 x 250 mm. The glass supports Letter and A4, not established Legal. A generic guide paragraph claims approximately 100 sheets, but exact model configuration and specification tables state 50 and govern here. Color files and monochrome files are supported, while printed output is monochrome. Optical 600 x 600 scan resolution differs from an enhanced figure.

Computer and mobile connections

Included USB computer Type B, Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi. For computer USB scans, the original Network/USB Scan Driver 3.32.06.01 requires firmware V60.001.14.000 SMPR4 or later. TWAIN supports USB and network with 32-bit applications only, even on a supported 64-bit operating system; WIA supports USB with 32-bit or 64-bit applications. Remote TWAIN requires enabled Scan Extension Web service and Remote Start. Choose Scan Size, Side to Scan and Image Color in the compatible application. Network shared-folder scanning needs a reachable SMB destination, suitable permissions, saved computer credentials and an address-book entry. Wi-Fi offers the documented network services; Wi-Fi Direct peer printing is separate and disabled by default, with peer computer scanning unestablished. USB memory scanning is distinct from a computer scanner connection.

Supplies and declared yields

The original US supplied cartridge is declared at 2,600 pages. US replacements are 106R03620 standard 2,600, 106R03622 high 8,500 and 106R03624 extra-high 15,000, under ISO/IEC 19752 conditions. Drum 101R00555 is separately approximately 30,000 pages; the original sheet bases that on Letter/A4 75 gsm pages, while the current US reference describes an average three-page job. Neither drum declaration is a toner ISO yield. The inherited 333SS-025 URL actually returns international 333SS-021I, with different retail toner codes 3623, 3621 and 3773; those are not substituted into this US record. No current cost or remaining-life claim.

Software and support

Secure Print is included for compatible computer job types and passcodes. Its administrator settings control minimum code length, and the held-job deletion timer can remove waiting Active or Personal & Secure jobs. Fixed code limits and retention after power interruption are unestablished. Card readers and NFC kits are optional. Native AirPrint needs HTTP, IPP and Bonjour/mDNS; Mopria needs a supported device, installed Print Service and enabled printer protocol. Both require the shared network/subnet or correctly routed discovery. A mobile device can use Wi-Fi while the printer is wired to that network. Native mobile and peer plans do not borrow scanner, PIN or paper-specific duplex controls from the full computer driver.

Electrical edition and setup

The original US model table explicitly lists WorkCentre 3345 DNI, and the US detailed specification separates North American 110–127 V from European 220–240 V. Verify the physical rating label. Included analog fax requires its configured dedicated telephone line and is independent of Ethernet or Wi-Fi. The US sheet explicitly gives an unpackaged base body of 18.5 x 17.5 x 19 inches and 38.07 lb; the guide gives 38.23 lb, a small source difference. Optional drawer, open feeder, extended loading paths and covers need extra space. Current manufacturer status says the series is no longer sold as new.
