Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can I use infrastructure Wi-Fi for Legal single-pass color scans and ordinary Legal duplex printing?
Yes. The DNI includes the wireless adapter. Make the configured wireless network primary for services such as WSD or SMB scanning, install suitable drivers or configure the computer destination, and use the Legal-capable single-pass feeder. Both included paper sources support ordinary Legal stock.
Explore this need in the finder →Can Wi-Fi Direct replace the configured network for all computer scanning?
A direct peer printing route is documented, but the read instructions do not establish the complete computer-scanning arrangement through that peer route. Use USB or a properly configured primary Ethernet/Wi-Fi network for the documented computer scans.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the DNI include 850 sheets of paper input?
No. Standard input is 250 sheets in Tray 1 plus 50 in the bypass on the stated ordinary stock. Reaching 850 requires the separately optional 550-sheet drawer.
Explore this need in the finder →The wireless configuration still needs a planned network
The Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DNI brings an included wireless adapter to a color LED multifunction device with automatic print duplex and a 50-sheet single-pass scanner. It is a useful configuration to assess when a compatible office wants infrastructure Wi-Fi, color documents and automatic capture of both sides of loose originals at the same machine.
The DNI suffix matters. The DN has USB and Ethernet with wireless offered separately; the DNI includes the adapter. Neither suffix adds a larger scanner glass or the optional extra paper drawer. Xerox's US page says the family is no longer sold as new, so evaluate the actual machine and current software support rather than treating these specifications as a new-stock offer.
Set the primary connection before configuring scans
The rear USB Type B port serves a direct computer cable. Ethernet connects through a suitable router or switch, while infrastructure Wi-Fi joins the office wireless network. With the adapter enabled, select the intended primary network. The guide reserves services including WSD scanning and scan-to-SMB for that primary connection.
For network capture, install the supported scanning software or configure the destination computer's shared folder and credentials. WSD needs its own enablement and discovery. Choosing Wi-Fi in the printer's settings does not, by itself, create a computer destination.
USB scanning is another documented arrangement. It requires a suitable application and TWAIN/WIA for Windows or ICA for Mac. In the application, select the printer and choose the glass or document feeder. A front USB memory socket instead handles supported flash-drive routines; it is not the computer-cable connector.
Wi-Fi Direct is a distinct peer connection and is disabled by default. It can support compatible direct printing, but do not assume every configured network-scanning function transfers to that route. Basic AirPrint and Mopria can use a suitable shared network, with the printer connected by Ethernet or infrastructure Wi-Fi. The app's available settings should be checked independently.
Single-pass capture suits loose double-sided documents
The feeder reads both sides automatically in one pass. It accepts Letter, A4 and Legal originals within a 5.5-by-5.5 to 8.5-by-14-inch range. Its capacity is 50 sheets on 75 gsm stock, with a stated 60–125 gsm media range. Load undamaged loose sheets face up, top edge first, and adjust the guides.
Use the glass for suitable books or originals that should not pass through the feeder. The scanner-specific tables give it an 8.5-by-11.7-inch maximum, covering Letter and A4. Legal feeder support should not be substituted for Legal glass support. Optical scanning is specified up to 600 by 600 dpi with color capture; the driver's side and color choices remain separate settings.
Use the included sources for ordinary duplex
The main tray holds 250 sheets and the bypass 50, totaling 300 ordinary sheets on 20 lb/75 gsm paper. Letter, A4 and Legal fit both included sources and the automatic duplex path under the relevant media conditions. Plain duplex stock is listed at 75–105 gsm; labels and envelopes have separate one-sided instructions.
Envelopes can use Tray 1 or the bypass. The bypass has a five-envelope limit and format-specific loading directions, rather than its ordinary 50-sheet capacity. Extend the main tray for Legal and allow for its protrusion. The additional 550-sheet drawer raises total input to 850 only when installed.
Protect jobs and separate fax from the computer connection
Secure Print creates a passcode-held job in a compatible computer driver. At the panel, select Jobs, Personal & Secure Jobs and the appropriate folder, then enter the code. Printing deletes the secure job. Personal Print does not use that passcode, so a waiting job is not necessarily protected in the same way.
Embedded fax needs a dedicated active analog line at the LINE connector, plus the fax number, country, name and dialing configuration. Wi-Fi does not supply that telephone service. Check any separately proposed server-fax arrangement on its own conditions.
Allow for maintenance and realistic monthly use
The maker's one-sided print declarations are up to 30 Letter, 28 A4 or 24 Legal pages per minute in color or monochrome. The detailed sheet recommends up to 3,000 regular monthly pages, despite a different 4,000-page US webpage summary; 50,000 maximum duty is a separate limit.
Included toner declarations are 1,500 black and 1,000 pages per color under ISO/IEC 19798. Replacement toner, four drums and the waste cartridge have separate yields and regional identities. The base body is about 16.5 by 19.9 by 19.7 inches and 67.7 pounds. Leave operating access beyond those dimensions, and choose a larger glass or explicitly higher included input when those needs decide the purchase.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Maker-declared one-sided rates are up to 30 Letter, 28 A4 or 24 Legal pages/min in color or monochrome. Automatic duplex, scan impressions and copy rates are separate. The detailed specification recommends up to 3,000 regular monthly pages, while the surviving US page says 4K; the conservative detailed figure is retained, separately from 50,000 maximum duty. No ISO print-speed test basis is invented.
Paper handling
Included ordinary input is 250 sheets in Tray 1 plus 50 in the bypass, totaling 300 on 20 lb / 75 gsm stock. Both accept Letter, Legal and A4. Automatic print duplex supports those sizes under its 140 x 210 to 216 x 356 mm range, with plain stock 75–105 gsm and separately listed media through 176 gsm. Optional 550-sheet Tray 2 raises maximum input to 850. Envelopes use Tray 1 or bypass as a separate one-sided routine; bypass limit is five envelopes. Legal tray extensions protrude.
Scanning arrangement
The 50-sheet single-pass DADF scans both sides automatically and supports Letter, Legal and A4 within 139.7 x 139.7 to 216 x 356 mm, at 60–125 gsm; capacity basis is 75 gsm. The scanner-specific table limits the glass to 8.5 x 11.7 in., supporting Letter/A4. A generic copying paragraph gives an inconsistent larger glass size, so it does not establish Legal flatbed support. Color scanning is documented separately at up to 600 x 600 optical dpi and 24-bit color. USB TWAIN/WIA/ICA and configured network computer routes are positive; actual application controls remain necessary.
Computer and mobile connections
DNI includes USB Type B, gigabit Ethernet and the wireless network adapter; infrastructure Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct are distinct routes. Select Ethernet or infrastructure Wi-Fi as the primary network for WSD/SMB scanning and listed services. Direct peer printing is documented, while a complete direct-peer computer scanning arrangement remains unestablished. Front USB memory is separate from the rear computer cable.
Supplies and declared yields
The detailed specification declares included black toner at 1,500 and each included color at 1,000 average standard pages to ISO/IEC 19798, distinct from replacement black 2,500/5,500, color 1,000/2,400/4,300. US brochure numbers include black 106R03476/106R03480, standard CMY 106R03473–475, high CMY 106R03477–479 and extra-high CMY 106R03690–692; confirm regional compatibility. Four separate drums carry approximate 48,000-page declarations and waste cartridge 108R01416 30,000; the US brochure uses a three-page A4/Letter job basis. No current cost per page is calculated.
Software and support
Use compatible print and scan drivers. USB computer scanning needs an A-to-B cable, a scanning application and TWAIN/WIA for Windows or ICA for Mac. The driver example explicitly offers one-sided/two-sided scanning and output color. Secure Print uses a computer-driver passcode and panel release through Jobs > Personal & Secure Jobs, deleting the job after printing. Personal Print has no passcode. No exact print-passcode length is asserted. Current software support must be checked for the intended system.
Electrical edition and setup
Earlier US variant reference; Xerox says WorkCentre 6515 is no longer sold as new. The US brochure and detailed sheet give a base body 16.5 in wide, 19.9 deep and 19.7 high at 67.7 lb, without the optional drawer; the guide rounds weight to 68 lb. Allow feeder, glass, output and Legal-tray access beyond that outline. The detailed sheet distinguishes North American 120 V / 60 Hz from European 220–240 V / 50 Hz, but the actual unit edition must be verified. Analog fax needs an active dedicated line at LINE and configured country, fax number/name and dialing settings; it is not carried by the computer network.
