E515dwIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible ordinary Wi-Fi office needing printing, scanning, copying, fax and network AirPrint/Mopria within the recommended 300–1000 monthly pages.

The main tradeoff

Direct printing supports one client and does not inherit network scanning. Legal glass, duplex ADF scanning and US A4 automatic print duplex remain unestablished.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can ordinary Wi-Fi combine Legal feeder capture, fax, AirPrint and Legal automatic printing at 800 monthly pages?

Yes, through the documented configured network and compatible software, using the US paper routine. These are ordinary-network features.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does single-client Wi-Fi Direct printing establish peer computer scanning?

No. Peer printing is documented, but its computer scan route is not established and does not inherit ordinary network scanning.

Does a USB computer plan also satisfy native network Mopria?

No. USB computer printing/scanning is a different arrangement from shared-network mobile printing.

The wireless E515 adds a different placement choice

The Dell E515dw is an earlier monochrome four-in-one printer with color scanning, copying and fax. Its practical distinction from the E515dn is the included wireless arrangement: the dw specification lists ordinary Wi-Fi as well as USB and Ethernet.

That makes placement away from a computer cable or Ethernet outlet possible, provided the actual network and current compatible software support it. It does not change the paper mechanism, turn the printer into a color-output model or make every wireless function interchangeable.

Ordinary Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct have different limits

The exact revised dw specification describes Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct concurrency, with only one Direct-connected device. Ordinary network Wi-Fi can support the documented computer printing and scanning workflow. Ethernet is another network choice when a wired connection is preferable.

Native AirPrint and Mopria are documented for an appropriate same-network arrangement. We do not assume that their same-network permission applies to the single-client Direct route, or that a compatible peer-printing claim establishes peer scanning. A USB computer plan also does not inherit the network's mobile protocols.

Automatic print duplex follows the US operating procedure

The original US guide names Letter, Legal and Folio for automatic two-sided printing, with suitable plain, thin or recycled paper. It describes selecting the automatic setting and binding orientation in a compatible driver. That is different from the manual routine where the user reloads sheets.

The brochure's broad duplex-media row and A4 rate do not agree with that operational size list. For this US edition, we use the explicit Letter/Legal procedure rather than qualifying A4 automatic duplex from the broader brochure. A4 one-sided printing remains supported, while envelopes use the separate single-sheet feed and their own media settings.

A 35-sheet feeder does not mean duplex-original scanning

The original feeder accepts suitable originals up to 8.5×14 inches, including Legal. The glass accepts shorter originals up to 8.5×11.8 inches, covering Letter and A4. Use the feeder for a Legal sheet rather than expecting the glass to accommodate its full length.

Color computer scanning is documented through the actual USB and configured network procedures. Normal unscannable margins remain, so supported original size does not mean full-bleed capture. Automatic two-sided original scanning is not established merely because the printer can make two-sided output; the verified feeder arrangement is the ordinary one-sided route.

The cassette and recommended volume suit modest paperwork

The ordinary cassette holds 250 sheets. Its separate hand-feed path accepts one sheet at a time and should not be described as another stacked paper tray. We use the cassette capacity for bulk-input matching.

The recommended monthly range is 300–1,000 pages, distinct from the 10,000-page maximum duty cycle. The one-sided declaration is 27ppm Letter or 26ppm A4. Those are manufacturer figures, not our measurements or a promise that wireless application jobs complete at the same rate.

Check software, supplies and installation access

The original Scan to PC and Image Capture procedures distinguish USB from network computers and require suitable installed software. A scanning-destination PIN protects incoming scan delivery; it should not be presented as PIN-release printing. Historical cloud services and older operating-system lists also need current compatibility checks.

The US edition uses 110–120V, with a brochure body of 16.1×15.7×12.5 inches. Original supplied-weight figures conflict, so no single precise weight is offered. Allow access for the glass, feeder, paper and cables. The 700-page starter and 2,600-page high-yield toner declarations do not establish remaining supplies or today's cost. Choose the E515dn when wired connectivity is sufficient, rather than expecting a quality difference simply from the wireless suffix.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Declared one-sided rates are 27 ppm Letter and 26 ppm A4. Brochure and US-guide duplex rates differ. The exact US automatic procedure names Letter/Legal/Folio rather than A4.

Paper handling

Included bulk input is 250 sheets, plus an individual manual feed. US automatic duplex uses eligible Letter/Legal/Folio plain, thin or recycled 60–105 gsm paper. Envelopes use manual feeding.

Scanning arrangement

The 35-sheet feeder reaches 8.5 × 14 inches; the glass reaches 8.5 × 11.8 inches. USB and configured network color computer capture are documented. Automatic feeder duplex is not established.

Computer and mobile connections

Computer USB, 10/100 Ethernet and ordinary Wi-Fi are included. Direct printing supports only one client. AirPrint/Mopria belong to the supported shared network, without borrowing those features into Direct or USB.

Supplies and declared yields

The dw brochure agrees on 700-page starter and 2600-page high-yield toner, but its standard-yield row conflicts with the pictured ordinary cartridge. No single standard yield is adopted; drum yield is separate from remaining life.

Software and support

Install compatible USB or LAN scan software and follow the original procedure. The scan-destination PIN does not establish private print release. The narrower US operating duplex rule governs the broader brochure.

Electrical edition and setup

The US edition is 110–120 V AC, 50/60 Hz. Body: 16.1 × 15.7 × 12.5 inches. Brochure loaded weight of 22.9 lb conflicts with the shared guide’s 27.3 lb, so a single loaded weight remains unknown.
