ECOSYS FS-2100DNIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

A workgroup sharing monochrome documents over Ethernet or a compatible USB computer, with the stated paper and desktop private-job setup.

The main tradeoff

Wireless hardware and expanded paper feeders are optional. No scanner is included, and the 150,000-page duty ceiling is not a monthly workload recommendation.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the published recommendation cover a 20,000-page monthly wired monochrome routine?

Yes. The exact US sheet recommends up to 20,000 pages monthly; the separate 150,000 maximum-duty figure is not used as the recommendation.

Does the duty ceiling make it a confirmed match for 25,000 pages every month?

No. That exceeds the published recommended monthly maximum used for this comparison.

Explore this need in the finder →
Can compatible desktop USB printing combine automatic duplex, 600 included sheets and PIN release?

Yes, for the documented Letter setup with the compatible Private Print driver and RAM disk configured. USB alone does not add a scanner or network AirPrint.

A wired document printer with a published workload range

The Kyocera ECOSYS FS-2100DN is a monochrome printer for a shared document routine rather than a scanning station. Its useful combination is built-in Ethernet, automatic two-sided printing and a 600-sheet standard input arrangement. The exact American sheet also supplies a recommended monthly range, which is more useful for a workload question than relying on maximum duty alone.

This is an earlier model. A sensible purchase therefore depends on the exact machine, supported present-day computer setup, consumables and included accessories. Its documentation establishes capabilities; it does not establish the condition, stock or remaining life of an individual offer.

Use the recommended 1,000–20,000 pages for workload decisions

The manufacturer's recommended monthly volume is 1,000 to 20,000 pages. Its separate 150,000-page maximum duty figure is not a recommendation to run at that volume every month. In our questionnaire, the recommended maximum controls a required monthly workload instead of using the much larger duty number to make the printer pass.

Someone expecting 5,000 ordinary documents a month can compare it on that published basis. A 25,000-page requirement needs a different documented recommendation, even though it falls below the headline duty ceiling. Neither declaration is a measured durability result or a promise about a previously used unit.

42ppm does not describe every paper routine

The declared one-sided rate is 42 pages per minute on Letter, 33 on Legal and 40 on A4. Automatic duplex is separately rated at 21 pages per minute on Letter and 16.5 on Legal. Those differences matter if the everyday job is double-sided Legal paperwork rather than one-sided Letter output.

Compare the same size and printing condition across alternatives. The figures do not include a measured complete application workflow, network delays or a first-page test by us. This dedicated engine also cannot acquire scans simply because a shared software download list contains scanning terminology.

The included supply is 600 sheets, with expansion priced separately

A 500-sheet cassette and 100-sheet multipurpose tray form the standard arrangement under the specified ordinary-paper weight. Letter, Legal and A4 are named in the exact paper tables. Envelope printing has its own instructed paper path and envelope-mode setup; it is not a reason to treat every medium as suitable for ordinary duplex printing.

The 2,600-sheet maximum depends on extra feeders. Inspect the actual drawers included in an offer and allow access for loading, opening trays and servicing. The exact US sheet gives a body reference of 15.35×16.14×11.22 inches and 29.76lb; the older guide has slightly different rounded measurements, so a tight space still needs an actual-unit check.

Private Print is available through a specific driver routine

The original operation guide describes setting a four-digit access code in a compatible desktop driver and entering it at the control panel to release a private job. Its RAM-disk arrangement can support Private Print when configured on. Other retained-job functions use different storage requirements, including optional SSD or SD-card hardware.

That distinction prevents an unnecessary assumption that every form of job retention is included or that every mobile submission exposes desktop private-job controls. Check the actual driver and configuration with the computer that will use the printer.

Choose DN networking without assuming wireless hardware

The DN model includes USB computer and Gigabit Ethernet interfaces. Wireless networking through the listed IB-51 is optional. AirPrint is documented for the supported network setup; a wired printer on that network can serve a compatible device without containing its own Wi-Fi radio.

For a higher declared Letter rate and a larger published recommended workload, compare the FS-4100DN assessment. Choose between them using the actual workload, duplex routine and offered package, rather than treating the larger model number or a maximum-duty figure as a universal quality score.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Declared one-sided Letter 42 ppm, Legal 33 ppm and A4 40 ppm; automatic duplex Letter 21 ppm and Legal 16.5 ppm. These are manufacturer conditions, not measured application jobs.

Paper handling

Included 500-sheet cassette and 100-sheet multipurpose tray provide 600 sheets under the stated 80 gsm condition. The 2,600-sheet maximum requires optional feeders. Letter, Legal and A4 are independently named in the paper tables.

Scanning arrangement

Dedicated monochrome printer. No scan, copy, fax or document-feeder hardware is included.

Computer and mobile connections

USB computer and Gigabit Ethernet are standard on DN. IB-51 wireless is optional. Supported AirPrint uses the configured network; it does not establish an included wireless radio or a USB-only mobile routine.

Supplies and declared yields

The American sheet declares TK-3102 replacement toner at 12,500 pages and starter toner at 6,000, under its stated ISO/IEC 19752 condition. Those are declared yields, not remaining toner in an offered machine.

Software and support

Compatible desktop Private Print uses a four-digit code and configured RAM disk; other retained-job modes have separate optional SSD or SD-card requirements. Check the current OS and exact driver before buying.

Electrical edition and setup

Exact US sheet body reference is 15.35 × 16.14 × 11.22 inches and 29.76 lb; the older series guide uses rounded, slightly different dimensions. Check an actual tight installation and leave operating clearance. US 120 V/60 Hz, 8.3 A and other-voltage editions are separate.
