Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can a USB desktop routine combine color duplex printing with automatic two-sided Legal color scanning?
Yes, with compatible computer-scanning software, including the documented Windows Quick Scan route. Legal is supported through the duplex feeder; the strict single-pass mechanism and Legal glass are not established here.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the Legal feeder limit be used to satisfy a Legal flatbed requirement?
No. The exact American sheet separately lists 8.5 × 11-inch glass; the general maximum does not prove Legal through every scanner input.
Explore this need in the finder →Does standard included memory qualify for PIN-release printing?
No. The original guide explicitly requires expansion memory or an SD/SDHC card for Private Print and ProofHold.
Explore this need in the finder →A wireless color MFP with a useful duplex feeder
The Kyocera ECOSYS M5526cdw combines color printing, scanning, copying and fax hardware with included Wi-Fi. Its 50-sheet document processor supports automatic two-sided scanning, while a 4.3-inch touchscreen provides the walk-up control surface. It is relevant to a small office that needs actual color pages as well as digital copies of suitable paper originals.
Check the scanner input and supplied memory before choosing it for a specialist routine. A general Legal-size headline does not settle the flatbed limit, and a named private-print feature does not necessarily operate in the standard memory configuration.
Plan Legal scanning around the document feeder
The exact American sheet gives the document processor a Legal-size limit but separately lists the glass at up to 8.5×11 inches. The operation guide contains a broader copy/original maximum without resolving that specific glass restriction. For Legal originals, the positively documented feeder route is the sound basis for planning this assessment.
Ordinary automatic two-sided feeder scanning is supported, with different declared rates for color, monochrome and resolution. The read passages do not separately establish the physical single-pass method, so that stricter requirement is not assigned from the DSDP name alone. Use the permitted feeder stock and loading instructions; originals needing the glass should be checked against that specific route.
USB scanning has a documented computer workflow
The operation guide identifies USB, Ethernet and the exact wireless model's network interface for computer scanning. The original support FAQ also provides a concrete Windows Quick Scan installation and folder-destination workflow for USB and network-connected M5526cdw units. Compatible software and present operating-system requirements still need checking.
On a shared network, scan-to-folder or email destinations need the correct permissions and configuration. AirPrint and Mopria use their supported infrastructure-network arrangement. USB desktop functions and Wi-Fi Direct peer printing should not be combined into an imaginary setup providing every protocol and scanning method through every connection.
The standard paper supply totals 300 sheets
The base arrangement is a 250-sheet cassette plus 50-sheet multipurpose tray. The guide applies the full multipurpose load to A4/Letter or smaller at the stated paper weight. Legal minimum-capacity checking therefore uses the positively documented cassette basis, rather than assuming the entire 300-sheet headline applies unchanged.
The 550-sheet maximum needs an optional feeder. Automatic print duplex supports the documented ordinary-paper range and weights, while envelopes use their separate instructed path. Confirm the drawers actually included in an offered package instead of relying on a photograph or expansion headline.
Private Print needs more than the standard configuration
The exact operation guide says Private Print and Proof-and-Hold require expansion memory or an SD/SDHC card. This is a material purchase condition, so standard-package PIN release is not assigned here merely because the feature appears in a marketing list.
Other storage modes have their own requirements. Check the precise installed memory or card, compatible driver and intended job workflow before buying mainly for held private documents. This differs from models whose documented Private Print routine can use their included RAM directly.
Compare output settings and the installed machine
The manufacturer declares one-sided black and color rates of 27 pages per minute on Letter, 22 on Legal and 26 on A4. The highest 1200×1200 setting carries a reduced-speed condition. Scanner images per minute are separate measurements, and we have not tested finished image quality or timed complete jobs.
The body is about 16.42×16.89×19.49 inches including the feeder, with the guide listing 57.33lb without toner. Allow operating space and inspect the actual 120V/60Hz electrical edition. The 65,000-page maximum duty is not a recommended monthly workload. If color output is unnecessary, compare the M2540dw's monochrome document routine; if color is essential, evaluate this model on its real feeder, connection and optional-memory conditions.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Declared black/color one-sided Letter 27 ppm, Legal 22 ppm, A4 26 ppm. High 1200 × 1200 setting is at reduced speed. Scanner ipm use different color/resolution conditions and are not measured printer speed.
Paper handling
Standard 250-sheet cassette plus 50-sheet MP tray. Full MP loading condition is A4/Letter or smaller at 80 gsm. Legal minimum-capacity matching uses the verified 250-sheet cassette. 550 maximum requires an optional feeder.
Scanning arrangement
50-sheet DSDP with positive automatic duplex scanning and Legal originals through feeder. American exact sheet separately limits glass to 8.5 × 11; broader guide copy/original maxima do not resolve that route-specific conflict. Flatbed matches only the independently supported Letter route here. Single-pass mechanism remains unestablished.
Computer and mobile connections
Standard USB computer, Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct. Exact guide gives USB/Ethernet/WLAN scanner interfaces; original FAQ describes Windows USB/network Quick Scan. Infrastructure-network AirPrint/Mopria are separate from desktop USB and peer-only assumptions.
Supplies and declared yields
Separate toner and long-life imaging components. Verify exact regional cartridges and their individual declared yields; no uniform color-yield, current-price or remaining-life assumption is made.
Software and support
Private Print and ProofHold require expansion memory or SD/SDHC card according to exact guide 5-40. Standard-package PIN does not qualify. Other Job Box modes and OCR/application functions have their own documented requirements.
Electrical edition and setup
Reviewed 120 V/60 Hz/8.6 A configuration, other-voltage editions separate. Body 16.42 × 16.89 × 19.49 in including feeder; 57.33 lb without toner. Allow working clearance. 65,000 duty is a maximum, not a recommended monthly workload.
