Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can the documented wired setup combine 30 ppm color Letter printing and automatic duplex Tabloid feeder scans?
Yes, in the supported network arrangement. The print rate is the one-sided Letter condition; the separate Tabloid scan route uses a reversing feeder.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the faster M8130 provide a confirmed 35 ppm color Letter rate?
No. Its exact model declaration is 30 ppm, not the rate of another series member.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the USB printer connection confirm the same computer scan route as Ethernet?
No. The reviewed scanner interface table establishes network scanning, so the USB-only plan does not borrow it.

The Kyocera ECOSYS M8130cidn is an A3/US Tabloid color multifunction printer whose meaningful advantages over the M8124cidn are a higher declared Letter rate, a larger control panel and support for an optional finishing arrangement. The two models share several paper and scanning limits, so the faster name does not improve every part of the workflow.
It is a candidate for an office producing color layouts or larger worksheets alongside everyday documents. Assess the actual offered configuration: the base printer, an expanded drawer package and a machine with finishing hardware are different installations.
30ppm Letter becomes 15ppm on larger Legal or Ledger sheets
The original exact-model table gives 30 pages per minute for color and monochrome Letter/A4, and 15 for Legal/Ledger. That makes the Letter headline useful for a same-condition comparison with the 24ppm M8124cidn. It should not be applied unchanged to every page format.
Automatic duplex printing is supported through Ledger under its documented paper conditions. The one-sided rate does not establish the duplex-print rate, and the scanner's separate 50 simplex/16 duplex images-per-minute declaration uses an A4-landscape, 300dpi condition. None of these is a measured application result from us.
Optional finishing is a real distinction, with real package requirements
The original US comparison assigns the M8130cidn an optional 500-sheet finisher with three-position stapling. The M8124cidn column says that option is unavailable. If arranging sets of office documents is central to the job, that difference is more useful than assuming the two machines differ only in speed.
It remains an option. A picture of an accessorized machine cannot prove the finisher, attachment hardware or additional drawers are included in a seller's package. The seven-inch control panel is separately documented for the M8130cidn; the smaller sibling has a 4.3-inch panel.
Use the correct capacity for your chosen paper
The included input arrangement is a 500-sheet cassette plus a multipurpose tray. The cassette's original loading table expressly includes A3, Ledger and Legal. The multipurpose capacity is 100 ordinary sheets at A4/Letter or smaller, but 25 when the sheets are larger.
That gives a size-specific base total of 525 for Legal/A3/Tabloid rather than the general 600-sheet headline. The 1,600-sheet maximum requires optional feeders. A shopper selecting 600 included A3 sheets should see this limitation, even though the printer is genuinely capable of A3 output.
The shared feeder is reversing, not single-pass
The standard 50-sheet reversing feeder accepts the documented larger originals and scans both sides automatically by reversing them. It does not satisfy a single-pass requirement. Moving from the M8124cidn to the M8130cidn does not change that documented feeder method.
Ethernet and an ordinary Wi-Fi network provide the supported computer-scanning arrangements. USB establishes computer printing, while the exact scanner interface table identifies network interfaces; a USB-only scanning route is not borrowed from those plans. Standard Wi-Fi Direct is a separate peer-printing capability, not automatic proof of every scan destination.
Check storage, fax and the actual assembled footprint
Same-network AirPrint and Mopria printing are documented. HyPAS applications require optional storage. The original guide also describes four-digit Private Print, but its RAM-disk page carries an optional-SSD condition, so standard-package PIN sufficiency is not confirmed for a required included feature.
Fax System13 is optional, regardless of generic fax specifications elsewhere on the product page. The guide's body dimensions explicitly exclude the document processor, so this assessment does not use them to certify a complete-machine height limit. Inspect the assembled unit and operating clearance. For an office that needs A3 color output and the same reversing scans but not the larger panel or optional finisher, the M8124cidn assessment makes that tradeoff explicit without inventing a price difference.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Manufacturer-declared one-sided color/monochrome Letter and A4 30 ppm, Legal/Ledger 15 ppm. A4-landscape 300 dpi scanner rates are separately 50 simplex/16 duplex images per minute; no duplex-print rate is invented.
Paper handling
Cassette 1 loading table expressly supports A3/Ledger/Legal at 500 sheets, despite an incomplete later summary list. MP adds 100 sheets for A4/Letter or smaller, only 25 for larger paper: selected Legal/A3/Tabloid included total is 525, not 600. 1600 maximum needs options.
Scanning arrangement
Standard 50-sheet reversing feeder supports both sides, including documented A3/Ledger sizes; it is not single-pass. Generic scan maximum is not used to assert an A3/Tabloid flatbed route. Computer scanning is assigned only to documented Ethernet/WLAN arrangements.
Computer and mobile connections
USB computer, Ethernet and US/inch-model wireless are documented. US original comparison explicitly lists standard wireless LAN and Wi-Fi Direct. Same-network AirPrint/Mopria are assigned to ordinary network plans; peer-only computer scanning is not assumed.
Supplies and declared yields
The exact US product reference lists TK-8117K/C/M/Y. Check the actual regional unit and supplied toner. No regional starter yield, current price, remaining toner or page-cost claim is inferred.
Software and support
Four-digit Private Print is described, but the original RAM-disk page expressly mentions an optional SSD. Base-package storage sufficiency is unresolved, so a required standard PIN feature is not matched. HyPAS applications independently require optional SSD/SDHC.
Electrical edition and setup
Exact US model reference plus original US120 V/60 Hz, 7.2 A edition. The guide body dimensions exclude the document processor and do not certify assembled fit. M8130 supports an optional 500-sheet three-position-staple finisher; fax, finishing, expanded feeders and HyPAS storage are not assumed installed.
