ECOSYS P2040dwIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

An office wanting a lower-profile wireless printer for black-and-white documents, with scanning and copying handled elsewhere.

The main tradeoff

No scanner or copier. The full MP capacity has a paper-size condition, and extra drawers are optional; verify the electrical edition and present software.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can a Wi-Fi desktop routine provide monochrome Letter duplex output, 350 included sheets and PIN release?

Yes, with the documented infrastructure Wi-Fi arrangement, compatible desktop driver and enabled RAM-disk Private Print. AirPrint/Mopria use their own supported network routine.

Can this printer scan originals to a computer?

No. It is a dedicated printer without scanner hardware; a generic WSD Print/Scan protocol label does not change that.

Does the full350-sheet headline establish the same Legal loading capacity?

No. The full100-sheet MP condition is A4/Letter or smaller. The verified Legal minimum uses the 250-sheet included cassette.

A wireless printer for an office that only needs printing here

The Kyocera ECOSYS P2040dw is a monochrome printer with included Wi-Fi, Ethernet and a USB computer interface. It is a reasonable model to consider when documents need black-and-white output and scanning is already handled elsewhere. The lower-profile print-only body does not replace a copier or document scanner.

Decide that division of work first. A software list mentioning printing and scanning does not put scanner hardware inside this model. If one machine must capture paper originals as well as produce pages, a multifunction model is the more relevant comparison.

Included wireless is a real distinction, with separate routes

The exact operation-guide table reserves wireless LAN support for the P2040dw rather than its P2040dn relative. The American sheet also lists Wi-Fi Direct. Check the suffix of the offered unit instead of assuming closely related printer names mean the same connection hardware.

For a shared office, infrastructure Wi-Fi or Ethernet can provide the documented compatible network arrangement for AirPrint and Mopria. USB desktop printing is a separate routine, and Wi-Fi Direct is a separate peer connection. The network protocol and app requirements still need checking on current computers and mobile devices.

A modest body does not mean every paper stack has the same limit

The standard supply combines a 250-sheet cassette with a 100-sheet multipurpose tray. The guide explicitly gives the full multipurpose load for A4/Letter or smaller at its stated stock weight. Legal is an accepted paper size, but that does not independently prove the same full stack in every path.

For a Legal minimum-capacity check, the positively documented included cassette provides a 250-sheet basis. The additional Legal multipurpose loading limit is not established here. The 850-sheet expansion maximum needs optional feeders. Paper capacity should therefore be compared using the real supplied configuration and paper condition.

Automatic duplex and envelopes are different media routines

The specified print-duplex range reaches Legal with the permitted ordinary-paper weights. That can be useful for everyday double-sided correspondence or longer documents, provided the correct paper and settings are used. It is an output function, not a scanning feature.

Envelopes use their instructed multipurpose-tray handling. Do not interpret an envelope listing as permission to send them through an ordinary automatic-duplex routine. Different feed paths can support different media, and choosing the correct tray and media type is part of making the printer fit the work.

Private Print is available through a specific desktop setup

The operation guide explains a four-digit access code chosen in a compatible desktop driver and entered at the printer to release a Private Print job. RAM Disk Mode must be enabled for that documented Job Box routine. Other job-storage functions have separate SD-card requirements.

This is a useful distinction for a shared output tray, but it is not a claim that every mobile job automatically has the same PIN controls. Follow the compatible driver and panel procedure, and remember that temporary private-job data is deleted under the stated completion or power-off conditions.

Compare the exact output and ownership conditions

The maker declares one-sided rates of 42 pages per minute for Letter, 34 for Legal and 40 for A4. Those numbers do not measure the time your application takes to finish a job, and they are not automatic-duplex speed promises. The 80,000-page duty is a maximum, not a recommended monthly workload.

The body is approximately 14.77×15.48×10.71 inches, with a listed 30.9lb weight excluding toner. Allow extra paper-handling and service space. The reviewed American electrical configuration is 120V/60Hz; inspect the actual rating label and present driver support before buying. If scanning and copying become essential, compare the M2635dw multifunction assessment instead of trying to add those functions through a software name.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Declared one-sided Letter 42 ppm, Legal 34 ppm, A4 40 ppm. These are maker figures, not measured job times or automatic-duplex speed promises.

Paper handling

Included 250-sheet cassette plus 100-sheet MP tray. Full MP load is A4/Letter or smaller at 80 gsm; Legal minimum-capacity matching uses the verified 250-sheet cassette rather than an unestablished extra MP stack. 850-sheet maximum needs optional feeders.

Scanning arrangement

Dedicated monochrome printer, no scanner/copier/fax hardware. A generic WSD Print/Scan label in a protocol list does not add a physical scanner.

Computer and mobile connections

USB computer interface, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct standard. AirPrint/Mopria are supported in the documented compatible infrastructure-network arrangement; peer-only mobile/PIN combinations are not established here.

Supplies and declared yields

Exact US product reference identifies TK1162 black toner with 7,200-page replacement declaration under ISO 19752. No current supply price or cost-per-page calculation.

Software and support

Compatible desktop Private Print uses a four-digit access code and RAM Disk Mode On. SD/SDHC storage is separate for other job routines; do not promise desktop private-job controls through every mobile submission.

Electrical edition and setup

Reviewed 120 V/60 Hz/8.1 A configuration; 220–240 V versions separate. Body 14.77 × 15.48 × 10.71 in; manual 30.9 lb weight excludes toner. Extra paper/service clearance required; 80,000 maximum duty is not recommended monthly volume.
