A useful fit for

A home desk making individual-original scans without needing Ethernet, a touchscreen or a feeder.

The main tradeoff

No Ethernet, document feeder or fax; this is a different flatbed configuration from print-only HL-L2460DW.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can I scan individual originals in color over a supported Wi-Fi setup?

Yes. Its flatbed captures color with the appropriate desktop or AirPrint arrangement, while printed pages remain monochrome.

Can I require a wired Ethernet connection?

No. The exact included interfaces are wireless and USB, without Ethernet.

Can I load a stack for automatic scanning?

No. A flatbed is included, but there is no automatic document feeder.

The Brother HL-L2465DW is a monochrome laser with flatbed copying and color scanning, automatic two-sided printing and wireless or supported USB connection. It suits a home desk that handles individual originals and does not require Ethernet, a touchscreen or an automatic document feeder. Its nearby model number should not be mistaken for the print-only HL-L2460DW: the functions and connections differ.

Start with the glass and the documents you handle

This exact US model includes a flatbed rather than a feeder. It can be useful for an occasional receipt, form or suitable individual original when buying a separate scanner would add another device and cable. The scanner can capture color while paper prints and copies remain monochrome. That distinction matters if you distribute a color scan electronically but do not need a color printer.

The US online guide lists a document glass up to 8.5 by 11.8 inches, covering Letter or A4 originals. The brochure gives a Letter reference. Printing Legal paper does not make the glass Legal-sized. With a stack of loose originals, you have to place the pages individually; no automatic feeder is included. If batch scanning is the job you want to simplify, compare the DCP-L2640DW rather than choosing the HL-L2465DW because it has a scanning feature.

The simpler panel and missing Ethernet are meaningful

The panel uses a two-line LCD instead of the color touchscreen on the HL-L2480DW. The US interfaces list dual-band 2.4/5 GHz wireless and USB 2.0, without Ethernet. A household comfortable with wireless printing may accept that arrangement. A workspace that requires a wired printer connection to its router should choose a model that includes one.

AirPrint, Mopria, Wi-Fi Direct and Brother Mobile Connect are documented mobile routes with their stated requirements. A network-compatible badge is not a promise that every utility works through every interface. Brother directs Mac printing and scanning to AirPrint and says native Mac printer drivers are not provided. If you plan local USB operation, check the supported computer and current software instead of assuming a Mac will follow an old driver-based USB routine.

Duplex output does not imply a faster or more automatic scanner

The US specification lists automatic two-sided printing for Letter, Legal and Folio. A4 appears in the ordinary tray printing list but should not inherit that regional duplex permission. The manufacturer declares up to 30 single-sided pages per minute, compared with 36 for some nearby models. Neither figure is a hands-on speed result or an automatic two-sided output rate.

Automatic output is useful for a file you send from a computer. It does not turn the glass scanner into an automatic two-sided document feeder. If both faces of loose originals must be captured without repeated placement, a different scanning mechanism is needed. Set the scan requirement explicitly in the finder rather than relying on the word duplex elsewhere on the product page.

Paper capacity and software need their own checks

The standard tray holds up to 250 sheets on the specified 20 lb paper basis, with a separate single-sheet manual slot. Suitable envelopes and other permitted media have their own feed and weight instructions. The 100-sheet output capacity means a longer job may need attention at the finished stack even while paper remains in the input.

The software list includes qualified scanning and document-handling features. Several destinations and utilities are Windows-only. Those may matter if OCR or a particular network destination is essential, while an occasional local copy does not depend on every listed add-on. Choose from the actual task and operating system rather than treating the longest software list as the best fit.

A modest recurring workload in a low-profile all-in-one body

The unit measures 16.1 by 15.7 by 10.7 inches and weighs 22.2 lb. Leave space to raise the lid and access paper, cables and service areas; fitting the closed measurements into a shelf is not enough. The US power record specifies 110–120 V AC at 50/60 Hz.

The standard package includes an approximately 700-page starter black toner cartridge and a DR830 drum. Replacement cartridges and the drum have different yield conditions, so do not use an additional-toner bundle's headline as the ordinary supplied quantity. Brother recommends up to 2,500 printed pages monthly, distinct from a 35,000-page maximum-duty figure. Choose the HL-L2465DW for individual-original scanning and wireless duplex output with a simple panel. Choose the HL-L2480DW when its Ethernet and touchscreen are features you will actually use.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Manufacturer-declared up to 30 one-sided Letter pages per minute, not a measured or duplex rate.

Paper handling

Up to 250 sheets in the ordinary tray on the stated 20 lb basis; separate single-sheet manual media path. Letter, Legal and A4 ordinary printing. US automatic duplex covers Letter and Legal; A4 duplex is not assigned from a generic speed-table mention.

Computer and mobile connections

No Ethernet; dual-band 2.4/5 GHz wireless and USB 2.0. Network AirPrint/Mopria have their stated conditions. Mac uses AirPrint rather than a supplied native Mac printer driver.

Supplies and declared yields

Ordinary US package lists approximately 700 pages of supplied black toner under ISO/IEC 19752; separate DR830 drum has a conditional approximately 15,000-page reference. Additional-supply bundles are different offers.

Electrical edition and setup

US 110–120 V AC, 50/60 Hz; body dimensions exclude operating and ventilation clearance. Check the exact US rating and supplied configuration.
